Life Transitions

“There is nothing permanent except change.”
– Heraclitus

Life sent you a one-way ticket to an unexpected destination.

Just like that, everything changed – as though you sailed off a cliff! There’s no going back.

Life shifted for you, and you don’t recognize the world or your place in it. You didn’t expect things to be this way.

This new transition in your life shook you up, making you unsure about what to do next.

You feel lost and unable to navigate the change you have experienced.

“These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.”
– Rumi

We all feel lost sometimes.

Friends and family don’t understand what this change is like for you. They judge or dismiss you when you say how you’re feeling.

So, you cope as best you can, but the façade is close to crumbling.

The world swirls around you, and you move through it as if in a fog. Sadness, grief, confusion, and unease have become your companions. It seems like there’s no safe landing.

You can’t find the destination at this point – not by yourself.

“For some things there are no wrong seasons. Which is what I dream of for me.”
– Mary Oliver

A soft landing is possible.

When life changes, you can be disoriented even when planned.

It could be moving to another place, becoming a parent, a child going to college – things other people think are par for the course. But you’re suddenly cut loose from what previously defined you.

On the other hand, it could be the loss of a loved one, a medical diagnosis, or a relationship that ended – things others understand are hard but don’t know how hard.

I understand that life transitions, although inevitable, are often difficult. I’ve gone through plenty of them, just like you. As a therapist, I have the expertise, but I also have genuine caring.

Let’s find your way together.

It is my privilege to accompany folks on the journey of rediscovery.

As Pema Chodron said, “To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.”

When things come apart, it creates the possibility of putting yourself back together in an entirely new way.

Our work together starts with an open mind. As we explore and digest the upheaval in your life, your nervous system becomes settled, and creativity comes back online. Then, you will discover what comes next.
